Materuni Waterfall Day Tour – A Refreshing Escape into Chagga Culture and Nature

Your day starts with a morning pickup from your hotel in Moshi, followed by a 30-minute drive to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a local guide who will lead you through the village and into the surrounding rainforest. The hike to the waterfall takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace, passing through beautiful scenery, local farms, and indigenous flora. Once you reach the waterfall, you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and, if weather permits, enjoy a refreshing swim in the cold mountain waters.

Afterward, you’ll walk back to the village where you will be guided through the coffee-making process—from harvesting and drying to roasting and grinding—ending with a cup of freshly brewed local coffee. A traditional Chagga lunch will be served, often including banana stew, rice, beans, vegetables, and seasonal fruits. After the meal and some relaxation, you’ll return to Moshi in the late afternoon.
