Mount Kilimanjaro 7 Days Rongai Route

Your adventure begins at Rongai Gate, where registration is completed before starting the trek through lush rainforest. The trail gradually climbs through dense vegetation with chances of spotting wildlife and unique mountain flora. You arrive at Simba Camp on the edge of the moorland zone for your first night on the mountain.

The trail ascends steadily across open moorland with beautiful panoramic views of the Kenyan plains. The terrain becomes more rugged as vegetation thins. You reach Second Cave Camp, a peaceful spot offering spectacular views of Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes.

Today’s shorter hike allows your body to adjust to higher altitude. The path climbs gently through heath vegetation with impressive views of Mawenzi Peak’s jagged formations. You arrive early at Kikelewa Camp for rest and acclimatization.

The scenery changes dramatically as you trek into alpine desert terrain. You reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, set beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi Peak. The afternoon is dedicated to acclimatization walks and rest while enjoying spectacular mountain views.

A long but steady trek takes you across the vast saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The landscape is stark and otherworldly, with minimal vegetation and wide-open views. You arrive at Kibo Hut, where you prepare and rest for the midnight summit attempt.

Your summit push begins around midnight, climbing slowly under the stars toward the crater rim. After reaching the summit, you continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, where you witness a breathtaking sunrise. After celebrating, you descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Your final day involves descending through moorland and lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, you receive your summit certificate and celebrate the successful completion of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
